Because you should tell nobody but God

Last month a friend of mine gifted me with a book for a lifetime- The Color Purple by Alice Walker. The novel unfolds the story of a poor black woman, Celie by means of letters that she writes to God. A moving story, ‘The Color Purple’ revolves around the brutality and sufferings that a barely literate black woman (Celie) goes through. She gets married at the age of 14 after getting continuously harassed by her own father. She does that to save her sister (Netie) from the same fate. But more than a story of sufferings it is a journey of Celie’s evolution. It’s a story of Celie’s liberation from the shackles of her loveless married life to an independent woman who eventually gets the life that she deserved. The story flows flawlessly, as there is no interpretation or interruption by the writer. One can easily connect with the protagonist as after some point of time you tend to live the story.
